These bikes are tappity sons of bitches. Could probably use a valve adjustment. The tires were not as cracked before this ride as they were when I got back and took the pictures in the other post.

I’ve owned twins all my life, tappity and tick, tick, tick, are pretty common. A lot of times its the lazy cam chain tentioners that causes it. Not typically something that requires fixing.

Though if it’s the valves, a loose, noisy or loud valves are better than quiet ones.

By the wa y, good rev-matching your downshifts!

Yeah, these Cx500s in particular due to their weird valve setup are very known for being noisy little suckers. Rev-matching is super fun on this bike. The pod filters helped enormously with the throttle response.

The s ound of that machine is hypnotic. How are valve jobs on that thing. d oes the engine sticking out sidew ays make that easier? Easily one of my least favorite jobs on a bike.

Don’t have to remove much of anything. Two bolts and the valve cover pops off and there they are. The rockers are siamesed due to it being pushrod 4-valve design so I haven’t really looked in to how to do a valve adjustment on one yet. Looks a lot easier than the parallel twin Kawasaki I had last summer.
